Across the multiverse, the shock wave traveled. On one world, torn nearly apart by internal conflict and shifting changes, a select few were plucked up amidst the chaos. On other worlds, portals opened to admit the chosen. And on others, electrical devices shorted, the resulting currents sending the recipients across time and space.

These means and many more occurred time and time again, and each time it took unwary travelers on a journey that would lead them to this new world, one that had already received newcomers, and now would welcome more.

They would all find themselves awakening from unconsciousness surrounded by a thick fog. The air was heavy, ambient light the only thing illuminating the area. visibility would be a literal joke, no further than a few feet in each direction. Those with the means to fly would discover that the air, although easy to breathe, would feel heavy and limit them to less than ten feet upwards. Each would be alone, but for those close family and friends snatched up with them, as well as some personal effects.

Even as they all wondered at what had happened, off in the distance, high up as if on a mountain peak, a gold light would suddenly appear, beckoning them towards it, and whatever fate destiny had in store....

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

WELCOME TO TERAGAIA, HAVEN WEYR, AND SUNDERED from OWL, SETHY, HERON, AND KAY! (aka, your friendly admin team!) I'm Kay, in charge of site events, which hopefully will be a lot of fun for everyone. This account, Teragaia, is to be used by the admin team for Site Events, random happenings, and other things that occur at the whim of the world and it's NPC inhabitants. So if you see 'Teragaia' pop up, know that it's something big!

This being the Grand Opening Event (or GOE) for Sundered Weyr, it is part introduction to the world of Teragaia, as well as a way for everyone to enter the setting. This is by no means required - you can skip this entirely if you so choose - but hopefully it will be a lot of fun for everyone.

Now, there are just a few very minor rules:

*As the description stated, the area everyone is awakening in is filled with thick fog, surrounded by high mountains. Flight is temporarily limited to no more than ten feet up, so actually flying over the mountains, should you be close enough to find out, is out.

*Everyone will awaken alone, save for those NPCs attached to your character. You will also have whatever possessions you like.

*WHAZZITIANS! You may awaken with up to five of your old shinies from Whazzit. Please note that Lords and Queens count as two for this tally. So, you can straight transfer in example one queen and three commons/uncommons, a queen, a lord, and a common, or any combination thereof. Don't worry if there isn't a direct transition for the species yet; there will be before this Event concludes, when it will matter.

*If you are not a Whazzitian, but come from another site like Whazzit, you may bring five creatures of your own, as long as they are not 'queens' as they are sometimes called. Not sure? PM Kay or one of the admin team!

*Not from any such site previously? Don't worry! that will be taken into account. Same goes if you did come from another site, but wanted to start fresh here with no pets.

*As stated, your only real guide point is the light. What may lie between it and yourself is up to you to create! Find someone you know - or find someone new! Travel alone! Find and fight a beast that lurks in the fog! Overcome an obstacle! This is all about being creative and having fun!

*I or one of my fellow admins may input things, just to keep it interesting. These could be challenges, events, or just 'hey, you find something new!'

*Both Primary and Secondary Characters are more than welcome here!

*This event will be open and run for everyone who joins within the first month. so if you are new, and it hasn't been a month from the post date of this entry, come on in! Don't worry if you are 'a little behind' everyone - just enjoy. On that same note, if any other threads outside this are put up while this is still going on, don't worry about having to wait to join them. Split time for the win!

*Post as much as you want! This is a story we're all writing together.

Lastly, HAVE FUN!

The angel groaned softly, stirring from the blackness that he hadn't remembered falling into. He thought he heard a noise, someone... calling something. What was that word? Was it his name?

"Raferties? Little Brother, wake up!" Yes, Raferties, that was his name, the Lorekeeper of Solaris, Firstborn of the Guardians.

Raferties slowly opened his eyes to realize that it was very dark. He almost couldn't be certain that he had opened his eyes at all, that is until a slightly blurry shape, illuminated by a familiar radiance, appeared over his face. The image slowly sharped into the face of his clearly worried Older Brother, Keldos.

"Raferties?"

"I... I hear you, Brother." The Lorekeeper put a hand to his forehead, feeling a little dizzy and wondering at the odd blue tint to the ceiling, until he realized that it was the wing of his sapphire dragon, Girith. "Girith?"

I am here, Raferties, as are Aurae, Orthau, Felix, and Pax. Sitting up slowly, with his brother's support, Raferties looked over to see the four companions of his nearby, also huddled under the dragon's protection. Aurae quickly flew into his arms, trilling her distress and relief as he cuddled her close to his chest, then looked at them all.

"What happened?"

"That I do not know," Keldos answered grimly. "The last I recall was the quake that broke your house, and our fleeing. You called that we had to find Belial, and that is where we were departing towards when... everything went black. Next I awoke, I was laying beside you as if we had been struck from the air, beneath Girth's wing. He has been protecting us." The elder Archangel shifted, kicking up a small eddy of fog that Raferties realized was laying about three inches thick upon the ground, even under the dragon's wing.

"Where are - wait!" Full cognizance of those last, terrifying minutes sprang back with sharp clarity, making Raferties try to lunge to his feet only to be knocked back down by a wave of dizziness and drawing his brother quickly back to his side . "Belial! Is he here?"

We do not know, Orthau answered. Girith has not permitted any of us to leave this spot, for our safety he says.

This terrain doesn't exactly insure confidence. The dragon rumbled, pulling back his wing to reveal a world thick with fog. Every direction Raferties looked, nothing but bleak fog. Without the dragon's wing to block it, the substance quickly rolled in, rising up to the angel's knees and keeping him from seeing more than a few feet away from him. Other than the seven of them - five shinies and two angels - Raferties saw no one.

"Belial! Belial!" he shouted as loud as he could, taking a couple of steps away as if that would make his mate materialize in the fog. Belial!! He didn't hear his brother call his name nor move to follow, instead reaching out with his thoughts, sensing through the bond they shared...

...only to find nothing.

Well, not quite nothing. More a... muting. He knew that Belial still lived, and was somewhere, but couldn't sense exactly where nor reach him telepathically. Heart racing in fear, the Lorekeeper for a moment stood motionless, shaking, all the fears washing over him in a flood...

"Raferties!"

"Urk!" The silvery-winged angel was suddenly jerked backwards by his wings, then spun around to face his brother who clasped a hand to the back of the younger angel's head, pulling him forward until their foreheads touched.

"Frater mi, audi me, ut non audiat vocem meam." (My Brother, listen to me, to the sound of my voice.) Hearing the Solarian language made Raferties automatically take notice and heed the words, his breathing - which Keldos had noticed was near to hyperventilating - slowing pace. "Nolite timere nos repperient. Vobiscum sum, et non relinquent in te solo timore tuo." (We will find him. I will not leave you alone in your fear.) For a few moments, Raferties just stood there, letting his brother's presence calm him, then nodded that he was composes again, and Keldos let him lean back.

"Thank you, Keldos," murmured the Guardian as he ran a hand through his slightly mussed hair. "I - I needed that." After a couple of more calming breaths, Raferties looked around again. "I - I know Belial is alive, and all the others too. Muse, Sanguis, Concordia, all of them. They are alive... but it is like they are very far away. I - cannot hear their voices." He frowned, mind trying to muddle through this mystery.

"We will find them, all of them, my brother. This I vow, as Firstborn of the Angels." Raferties nodded in acceptance to Keldos' intensely-spoken promise, one that given as it was would not be broken.

Ride upon my back, insisted Girith. It will be easier for us to cover more ground, and if you both light yourself in your glow, it will show further.

Look! Felix suddenly interrupted. Light! Peering through the fog the direction the Hyard indicated, the brothers saw the light, glowing distant but steadily. With a look to each other, they nodded, Raferties wrapped himself in his light, and after he had gathered his staff, his harp, some belongings that had seemed to survive the trip with them into his satchel, they together climbed on the dragon's back. With all of them calling out, shouting the names of every friend they knew, they began making their way towards the faint, only landmark in sight.

The feel of a nice big pat on her forehead woke Raeneth, silver eyes resting on a familiar creature.

"Marrok..? You look funny."

Oh noes. Brains damage. This is terrible.

"No, your eyes. They look blue. A shade of blue?"

"Look at the rest of your pets," said another voice, out loud. She rose to a sitting position with help, turning her head toward her uncle standing, appearing unchanged. From him she looked to a couple of jet pelted wolves. They looked back, with a little disappointment in their eyes. She knew they were Ziph and his sibling Me'Ellow from the bond, but they looked completely different from before. From smaller canid creatures, they had grown into fierce beasts. Their bonded smiled, tired, a little achy, and relieved. Something had happened, but no one seemed to be killed...

"Where's Brigh?"

She seeks foods.

The woman sighed, trying to calm her suddenly racing heart. The thought of losing a bond was terrifying. Then again, she kept feeling the emptiness, a break in one of the ties. In her head, she counted the creatures. Marrok, Ziph, Me'Ellow, Brigh... No, there's only four. I have five. Who is missing? Raeneth began to shake, going over the names again and again in her head. Marrok sat beside her for the moment of realization he knew was coming.

"Ashling... What happened? She was there and," her voice trailed off while she took hold of Marrok, hands gripping his fur tightly, her face hidden. The canine slipped a soft whine, unsure if he could explain it himself. He took notice of the demon's sobbing, and glanced away. She didn't like others seeing the emotions she couldn't control.

The Sand let his eyes move up to her uncle, not trusting him at all except to say something helpful. The demon seemed deceitful enough. To Marrok's surprise, he knelt down and placed a hand on her shoulder. Normally very wary of this man, the dog questioned whether this was an act, or if the sympathetic expression he held was real.

"Her demise took place in the comfort of your arms. You could not have done more," he said quietly. The words were nearly out of character, but suited the situation. Still, Raeneth would receive no explanation for the death.

The last thing she remembered was that the house shook, and when it began to collapse, she spotted the Phoenix, her wing caught under a fallen drawer, and took her into her arms, holding her tightly. What she didn't know was that despite her efforts to protect the bird, the ground opened, turning the house downward. The two fell to the first story without much harm, but the organ fell over both of them. Both were crushed, but only Raeneth could be saved, as Ashling was already gone. For some reason, her remains didn't travel with the others, though her bonded was healed in the new world they landed in by her uncle who mysteriously joined them there.

It took a while for her to settle down, but she eventually did with more encouraging words. There were rumors about the powers of a Phoenix, and they steadied her emotions. She grieved, but there was hope. With the madness she experienced on Planet, this tragedy twisted, adding to another turn of fate. Reluctant to let the others spread out on their own, she sent her uncle to watch them while she and Marrok walked in the other direction. The temporary split was necessary. Too much emotion in one place would weigh heavily on her mind and possibly destroy what fragile pieces were left.

"Marrok, do you think...anyone else made it?"

Yes.

She barely believed it. The scent of blood on her clothes hung in the air like a maddening signal of despair. Her walk was one of mourning and misery. It was obvious that she needed something, some sign that there was reason to keep searching. The fog dimmed their vision, but something still worked.

Smells that?

The dog turned his head to a scent, which Raeneth lifted hers to take a whiff. The one of blood was overpowering, but right outside of it, she found someone. The identity wasn't obvious yet, but anyone would be a welcome sight. Marrok threw a howl to the air for the anyone to hear.

((Gonna go ahead and claim these translated four from elsewhere. If I did it wrong, can someone correct me, please? ^^;

"Papa! Papa!"

At least Belial could locate Kaya. He couldn't find his mate, however, and apparently neither could Kaya. Papa was what she called Raferties. She had no such honorific for Belial himself, who was sort of simultaneously father and mother. Generally male-identifying, but due to a whim of the Illogical Field he'd carried Kaya in his body for months.

Not nearly long enough to warrant "birthing" a girl who looked five years old, but. Illogical Field.

There was nothing to say any part of it had to make sense. The Illogical Field rarely made sense, and even when it did, it was solely to be vindictive. Kaya's birth, for example, stemmed from a comment Belial had made about his predilections never trending toward the reproductive. To spite him, the Illogical Field had made him reproduce.

The little erinyes was darting this way and that way through the library of Raferties' home, certain that if her Papa could be found anywhere, it would be in his precious library. The house shook, the foundation cracking, bookshelves wobbling perilously as they threatened to fall. Belial threw as many books as he could into a sack and gathered up his daughter -- a task made difficult by her struggling and the half-panicked flapping of her black opal wings -- to run.

His first instinct was to find Sitka and his other bonded creatures, since he couldn't find his mate, but the house crumbled and collapsed before he and Kaya could make it out. The house came down on top of them, crushing parent and child in an all-encompassing blackness.

Belial expected the worst when he awoke from unconsciousness. Amazingly, Kaya was alive and mostly uninjured in his arms.

He could feel Raferties enough to know that his mate was alive, but the link was fuzzier than it had ever been since they'd bonded their souls to one another. Similarly, he could feel his bonded creatures, but he could not discern more than that they were alive. He ached to find Sitka, or Seil, perhaps Kaile or Khimala, those companions of his who were his steadying guides when life got spectacularly crazy.

He could see nothing in the fog except a light.

Well, for lack of a better plan, best to head for that light, right? With any luck, he and his daughter would find someone or something familiar.

Shrayla was in the middle of dressing out a deer carcass when suddenly she wasn't.

One minute, she was skinning off a particularly good hide and carving fresh venison from the bones. The next, she was somewhere else entirely.

Her bow had made the journey with her, but her swords had not. Which was a pity. She was going to miss Enseric's company if she never found him again; she and the talking sword had gone through a lot together. Hopefully someone worthwhile found him.

The werewolf couldn't determine precisely what the ground was made of, not with the fog as thick as it was. She sheathed her belt knife still bloody, wiping her hands off on her doeskin pants. She stood properly, wolf ears swiveling to catch any trace of sound. She heard footsteps coming her way, though the sound was horribly muted and strange, like she was hearing it from underwater.

This was new. Shrayla had seen a lot of crazy in her time, but this was new.

Normally finding herself in a new place, indeed, a new plane of existence, required some effort on her part. She had to find a portal, step through a door, anger something of godlike power, or do some other causative action that would logically toss her somewhere else in the multiverse.

She'd started her day stalking deer through the forests that bordered her old home in the Silver Marches. Well, and stalking trolls, too, but trolls weren't good eating. Edible, yes, but not good eating. They were disgusting to the palate, simultaneously tough as rubber and as squishy as raw oyster, with a flavor comparable to meat that had been left to decompose in the hot desert sun for a week and a half, and then sprinkled liberally with buffalo shit.

Beholders made better eating than trolls, but Shrayla was trying to be a good girl and eat like a normal person who was also a werewolf, so she'd put off her troll-stalking to hunt a deer. She'd found a magnificent buck, too, in his prime and absolutely beautiful. Her arrow had struck true, and the buck had been hers.

And now she was here, in this vast expanse of nothing but fog, and she was hungry, damn it all.

Well, she wasn't getting any of that buck's meat, not at this rate, so she cast around until she could zero in on the footsteps she heard. She could smell blood, too, more than could be accounted for by the deer blood on her clothes. If she couldn't eat, maybe she could instead get some answers.

That was about when she heard the howl of some canine creature. She returned it with a howl of her own, long and low and hopeful. There were probably a hundred different reasons why it was probably a bad idea, but she howled regardless.

And then, scenting grief on the air, she called out in Common, "Hello?"

((for now, I'll be putting this at the top of every one of Anari's posts))

Anari groaned deeply, slowly coming back from that place of pitch black unconsciousness and into the real world. Her entire body was aching, though that had become the norm of late. Slowly she opened her eyes and raised her head from the feel of cold stone beneath her cheek, though it took her a few long moments to realize what she was seeing.

She seemed to be in a dimly lit cave of some sort, with a tunnel leading who-knew-where, though she suspected it led out as she smelled fresh air and the light filtered in from that direction. There were no signs of the DHS or Highlord, no arcane circle beneath her, nothing. It seemed their ‘experiment’ in magical travel of which she was an unwilling participant had been a success. With a grim smile she recalled their shouts of pain as the lightning from the magic had struck out at them. Served them right!

Pushing herself into a sitting position, she took a quick inventory of what she had been given. Her studded leather was serviceable, if a bit plain and worn with a couple of missing studs. Her backpack was in one piece well enough, though the contents had much to be desired. The rations were clearly several days past their last usefulness, so she discarded them. The water smelled foul; it was poured out. She’d rather starve or thirst to death than consume that nasty meal. The blanket was hardly useful, but in a pinch she supposed it would function as a bandage source. Her spare clothes, mostly undamaged. Feeling for a small hidden pouch, she found some coins, and in the pale light saw two silvery mint gleaming at her. Her mother had always told her to have some money for a rainy day. Well, this definitely counted! And her flail. Anari reached out and took hold of the reinforced wooden handle. It felt comfortable in her hands, familiar and sure, undamaged from its ordeal. What a relief!

Anari sighed softly. She had done her all. Now the rest of it was up to Tygeal and the rebels. Whatever gods were out there help them, because at the rate she saw, they would need it. Slowly she pushed herself to stand, then gasped as her right leg partially buckled from beneath her, burning pain igniting every nerve and making her have to catch herself against the wall until it eased. Well, at least she wasn’t dead. The dead can’t feel pain after all. And how her leg became crippled was a memory she would never forget, either in her waking hours or her nightmares.

Not long after she and the rebel captain had parted, their efforts were put to the ultimate test as she was captured by a DHS Commander, a dread classification of warrior known as a Dragonknight, and brought in for questioning. Her blue eyes closed as the horrific memories intruded upon her mind. She had resisted, telling them time and again that she had nothing to do with the rebels or the theft of the orb. It was truth enough, but the lead Dragonknight had a particular bone to pick with her. Seems the one she killed, the DHS, was his younger brother, so he was particularly interested in seeing her suffer for it. She cringed, a hand going to her right thigh where a circular scar was all that remained of the terrible wound that had left her crippled. She could still hear his soft, mock-sympathizing voice in her ear.

If you would cooperate, all this will end. Do you feel what that salve they’re dabbing on your leg is doing? It’s healing it. But as is, if we apply it all, you will never walk again. Are you so certain it’s worth that?

She’d broken then, telling them of the druid and the favor she’d wrested. Now, a fierce grin found Anari’s face, despite the dull ache. They could search for years, but they would never find the druid or the fissure she'd said the druid's called eel had dropped their orb into. Neither ever had existed! Drawing the heavy, spiked flail carefully up to her she touched it, and spoke a soft word that had taken her many, many hours of practice to be able to say, as she was no arcanist. Much to her relief, a single, sun-fire yellow rune appeared between the killing spikes, showing that the Highlords had, in their arrogance, lost their precious weapon forever.

The former watch lieutenant had to hand it to the rebel captain, Tygeal. It was a brilliant plan, and she admired him for coming up with it. Upon getting Anari’s agreement to protect the weapon, an orb about the size of a large marble that drew its power from the sun itself, they had secretly melted down her flail and reforged it, the rebel throwing in the magic artifact when the head was half-poured. This had been wrapped with layer upon layer of protection against the flail being broken, as well as to conceal the magic now upon it and lessen suspicion. Afterwards, he had her beat on some old armor as well as some stone, to make the flail look more worn-in. When they were done, the pair had parted ways, and Anari had held a suspicion, now proven, that it would be the last time they ever saw one another. She wished him well.

Shaking her head, Anari focused herself on the present. Sliding the handle of her flail into its holster at her hip, she steadied her balance – the many hours in her cell relearning to walk with her bad leg now paying off – and began making her way up the tunnel. It gently sloped, but she saw light at the end, faint yes but clearly not torchlight or firelight. Eager to get out of the darkness which had been her surroundings for far too long, she exited the tunnel, and gasped at what she saw!

All around was a thick fog, illuminated by a unfocused glow that came from what had to be the most stubborn sun in existence. The ground was hard beneath her worn boots, and the air muggy with moisture. In all her travels, she had never seen any land remotely like this! Peering up, she saw that the cave sat at the base of a mountain, but there was too much obscurement for her to even try to place it on a map. Until she found something that could serve as a landmark, she would have to walk on blind legs towards whatever fate lay ahead. Well, she vowed to herself, she wouldn't let this fluster her! She'd endured more than just a little fog; couldn't quit now!

Speaking of ahead... was that a light? Yes, piercing through the fog was a golden glow, just a little to her right and high above her. Perhaps it was a building! While a part of her warned caution, it could belong to the Dragon Highlords, the other part of her countered that she would never know unless she looked, and as things stood they could hardly get much worse. So, with a hand resting comfortably on her flail and limping slightly, Anari began moving towards the light.

She hadn't gone far, however, when she thought she heard a noise. Freezing in place, she cast around for a good location to make a stand, and settled on putting her back to a nearby stone. Then, taking a breath for courage, she called out:

"Who's there? I warn you, I am armed!"

Perhaps Raeneth, her uncle, or one of her shiny companions would hear the howling, perhaps not. But what would be of immediate attention was a low thrumming noise in the ground, quickly changing into a thumping kind of noise... scant seconds before a gout of flame burst from the ground scant inches from her only known family member! Another series of thumps heralded a second fire gyser a couple of feet away from Me'Ellow and Ziph. It seems they had stumbled (or rather, been dropped) into the middle of a most inhospitable patch of land!

((OOC: Princess Bride ftw! It could have been RUSes?))

The booming and sudden burning noises would also be audible to Shrayal, as she was relatively close by. Any curiosity would be deterred, however, as something else was also drawn by her howl: a pack of five very large members of the family rodentia, nose twitching at the scent, scurried into view, then hissed at her rather hungrily. Lunch!

((OOC: Oh, there they are! XD))

Well, Belial and company were at least safe from giant rats and fire gysers, even if they would find their path not as clear: abruptly before them would rise a high hedgewall of thick thorns and brambles that perhaps would have looked more natural surrounding a sleeping princess' castle. The fog would make it impossible to tell the exact height or thickness, or how far to the left and right it went. So, now what?

((OOC: I'm not putting anything for Raf or Anari, since they are my characters and their encounters will be put in their posts. However, I invite any admin to throw something at either of them!))

The two halted. They didn't expect to hear a howl in return. Marrok gave a short nod, realizing what the scent was that he noticed. His bonded watched him for the signal to still follow. She didn't know the scent exactly, or else she would have used her own judgement. They continued toward Shrayla at the sound of her voice, with Raeneth responding.

"Who's there?"

Her uncle, a short distance in the other direction, was quietly leading the three shinies she trusted him to watch. The two Illaro snapped at each other playfully until Brigh joined the game, snapping with her own chomping teeth. The raptor took off ahead once they finished playing, much to the demon's irritation. He was no baby or pet sitter, and didn't find it as fun as they did. At the sound of a thumping, he turned back, and stepped forward just as there was an eruption. It separated the two wolves who jumped away in opposite directions.

Ahead, Raeneth's uncle had already bolted. The pups looked at each other and started running.

Their bonded had indeed heard the noise, but trusted in family. She was sure her uncle would take care of them. Their panicking worried her, but not enough to go back. Marrok was growling, taking the scent of something near Shrayla and recognizing it as a threat. Raeneth's hand went to her blade as the two ran to help. The thief was too, a skilled hunter and leapt to the werewolf's side to plunge the dagger into a rat. The Sand went to her other, biting down on the first one his jaws landed on.

~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^

He marched along after a trail, prepared to catch the thing that left it. The woods were very still, except for the breeze. Fortunately, it was blowing toward him instead of in the direction of his prey. It wouldn't be too far until he caught up to the creature, a great predatory bird that was too heavy for his tiny wings to carry him upward. Instead, he walked along the forest floor, large yellow eyes seeking food. It stood at least four feet tall, meaty legs leaving massive claw marks in the dirt and grasses.

The man felt his tail start to wag in anticipation, and knelt down to creep in close. His padded feet made his steps nearly impossible to hear when he scooted, letting each touch the ground before letting his weight down onto it and moving with it. He knew he could strike it from much further away, but if it ran, he wanted the chance to catch it with another arrow. At an oak, he leaned onto the bark, and took an extra step. The bow was raised, an arrow readied from his worn quiver. Calmly, let go. He had hit his mark, right through its head. The bird squawked, but didn't fall.

Pulling another arrow, he steadied, and let go. The flopping creature took the blow through an eye and up through the head. It still didn't die, squawking and moving about in seizing motions. The hunter felt bad for it. He stood, and went to the other side, looking for a place to fire that would kill it for good. He had no other weapons, so an arrow would have to do. It would have been wiser to stab the animal, perhaps, but it still moved. Prepping the bow, he stood over the bird.

Suddenly it rolled toward him, the head flailing at his feet. He fell backwards, rolling down a short hill, and into a hole. His silent shock was clear in his wide eyes. The hole opened up to a sky! It seemed impossible, but still he fell, putting his bow to his back. The reason was instinct. His hunt was over.

He couldn't scream to tell the group below to move, so he braced for impact. The poor guy taking the hit was Keldos. Mute slammed into him, and looked up, shaking his head. He sat on the angel for a moment, and then got up, holding out his hand to help him up. Unfortunately for Raferties' brother, the mixed stench of pure, unwashed body odor and rot poured from the mint-colored man. It would linger on anyone the stranger came in contact with.

Whether or not Keldos accepted his help, he quickly grabbed a pen from his pocket and a slip of paper from his shirt. He jotted something down in ridiculously beautiful handwriting, holding it up for him to read, then Raferties, and finally Girith.

Greetings, friends. You may address me as Mute. I do not speak. Thank you for saving me. If I may ask, who are you kind people, and where is this place?

"Belial! Kaya!"

Raferties coughed. He had been calling for his mate and daughter for some time now, without ceasing, and the effort had taken a toll on his throat. He swallowed a couple of times to wet it, then nodded at Keldos' quiet question to his well-being.

Lets us, insisted Felix. Nos hurts throats to mindcall.

Felix is correct, put in Orthau.

"I seems I have little choice," the Lorekeeper chuckled dryly, his voice cracking despite his earlier efforts. The unfortunate thing was, while they were calling for the devil and girl, and for Raeneth, Marrow, Sitka, and anyone else they knew, Raferties was able to 'be alone' with his thoughts in the silence.

Through his mind danced a thousand images and words, each one cinching the band tighter on his heart...

Resting under the swaying trees of the jungle, Belial in his arms and basking in their new-forged connection...

The devil pouring out his past, his pain, trusting Raferties with the knowledge and showing how powerful it was that the angel was entrusted with his heart, saying, "...when I am near you, I feel less as if the future is waiting to eat me alive. You give me hope, Raferties."...

Belial speaking to a questioning Keldos, "...I love him more than I value my own survival..."|...

Stroking his hands over the devil's swollen belly, feeling the firm kick against his palm...

A late night awakening, long moments full of pain and fear, only to lead to utter wonder: "Belial! Belial, it is over! Your daughter - our daughter - she's born! I have her, she is perfect!"...

Those sparkling eyes looking up at him adoringly, her voice first calling him 'Papa,' and melting his heart...

Keldos' hand coming to rest between Raferties' shoulder blades brought him out of his reverie, and he looked over his shoulder to see his brother giving him a small smile. No words were said, but the message of reassurance was passed nonetheless.

That was right before the impact hit that sent the unsuspecting archangel clean off Girith's back and to the ground, grunting in both discomfort (thankfully not pain, as he was clad in his platemail though the landing made it rattle) and in reaction to the rather unpleasant, bitter smell that gusted up from his 'assailant.'

"Brother!" gasped Raferties, rather startled as the dragon swung his head around, nose crinkling.

"I - I am unhurt," replied the angel, as Mute stood and Pax, Felix, and Orthau gathered, Aurae maintaining her place on the Lorekeeper's shoulder. He wasn't too proud to take the assistance up, though it was hard for the angel of Solaris to maintain a polite expression when he realized that the odor came from their new acquaintance, and that some of it seemed to be clinging to him (though the archangel's own natural scent of ozone like from a storm and heated metal was helping, somewhat, to counteract it).

Sliding down from Girith's shoulder, Raferties read the note quickly as it was shown to him - noting both the color and the expressive script - the inclined his head in greeting.

"I am called Raferties, and these are my Older Brother, Keldos, my dragon Girith, Aurae, Pax, Felix, and Orthau. It is a pleasure to meet you, though I am afraid we have no more idea of our location than you do. We were on a world known as Planet, but then there was a violent earthquake, and the next any of us know, we are here in this fog." Although they both were well aware of the at least Mute's unwashed nature, it was far beyond an angel of Solaris to be so tactless as to comment on it bluntly, at least to someone they did not know well. Felix, on the other hand...

Phew! You no has bath long time? The Hyard's nose twitched. Smells maybe sicks too. Let Raferties helps! Angels can heals!

I believe I scent fresh water ahead, Orthau murmured, running her tongue over her lips as if claiming thirst rather than saying Mute needed a bath. Hey, at least she could be tactful. Raferties nodded, motioning for Mute to follow if he wanted.

"As we are all in strange lands, to stick together makes the most sense. We are actually looking for some people, though unless you have seen others I doubt you would know where they are." His tone became a bit saddened at that, and Aurae dove down to snuggle against his chest (and if she happened to bury her nose in his cinnamon-sunlight scent, well...). "Shall we?"

Progressing forward was something of a difficulty. Most of Raferties' shinies pressed a bit ahead, while the angel's walked with Mute. Keldos remained silent, a step behind his brother protectively and trying to ignore the lingering smell on him, while Raferties was listening for an answer to Girith's continued shouts. It was a bit before he spoke again, "If Felix was correct and you are injured, I would be willing to help. I believe he might have scented infection, or something of that nature." That came out rather tactful. "Though I am not a Seraphim, my healing abilities are at least that capable." Ahead of them, loomed a wide, deep river flowing slowly. Despite the dim lighting and the fog, the illumination coming from both angels was plenty enough to see that it was startlingly crystal clear, all the way to the bottom. Orthau was already lapping at it, having seemingly decided it was safe to drink, and as they gathered Raferties was trying to figure a way to suggest that maybe Mute would like to clean up while he awaited an answer to his offer.

Abruptly, Girith - watching around for trouble - gave a loud roar, snapping into a defensive position as he spun around to face behind them where a dark shape manifested itself.

Whatever you are, be aware that we are not easy prey, the dragon growled, as Keldos drew his sword. The 'whatever' apparently didn't think much of the sight, as a twisted monstrosity of tangled fleshy limbs and jagged spines lunged out at them. Keldos jerked back as a swipe came at him, bumping into Mute and knocking him into the water, as Girith reared back and lashed with his claws. Raferties sought safety in flight, for the whole altitude of eight feet he could manage, while the rest of his shiny companions scattered, seeking their own safety in the shelter of some nearby rocks.

It didn't take a genius to realize that trouble was brewing.

The sound of Girith's roar immediately caught Lost's attention. Clearly, there was someone being attacked, and of course they would need help. But what could Lost possibly do in that type of situation, considering he was no fighter? Was there anything he could really do? Automatically, his gaze was drawn to the cabinet where he usually kept his bottled-up magics. Perhaps there would be something in there...? The twilight faerie stood and made his way towards the cabinet, hesitating for only a moment before pulling it open. A various array of bottles rested within, all of which were labeled and carefully organized. Knowing he had little time, Lost took a few bottles, such as Liquid Darkness, Blinding Light, and Mother's Warmth. Hopefully they would be able to aid him in this time of need.

Quietly leaving the village that the humans called Haven Weyr (the sun was still out, therefore most of the other twilight fae would still sound asleep in their own village), Lost spread his wings and flew in the direction the sound had come from, trusting his senses to guide him. His destination seemed to be an area saturated in fog, with only the faint outline of a mountain visible in the distance. With the air as heavy as it was, Lost would be unable to fly there. Perhaps one of the bottled magics he had taken with him would be of use? Reaching into his satchel, the dark-haired young male retrieved a bottle that shone dimly even in this thick fog, filled with the light of the star that had borne him nineteen years ago. Lost closed his eyes. "I ask you to guide my way, Mother, to aid those who need my assistance..."

Removing the cork from the bottle, Lost was engulfed in a warm embrace, transporting him to the location of the battle, and he was gently deposited just out of sight behind a pile of rocks. "Thank you, Mother," he murmured, corking the bottle and placing it back into his bag. "I will properly show my gratitude as soon as I am able." Using his small size and the distraction of the dark beast that seemed to be warring with Keldos, he was able to sneak his way through the rocks and dense foliage (what little there was, anyway) to make his way over to Mute, who had been pushed into the water, and beckoned him over.

Tidesweep
Shrine Attendant
[ * * * ]
Tidesweep woke up with a headache. She couldn't figure out what had caused it or why, but it was pounding away in the back of her head. Groaning, she sat up and rubbed the back of her head, eyes squeezed tightly shut against the light of the room. Or what should be the light of the room as she slowly realized that the red and black that usually signaled a light source was all black behind her eye lids. That isn't right... Her thought trailed off as another stabbing pain shot through her head.

Seriously. What did she hit it on? Last thing she remembered was laying down to a nap and the next thing was waking up in this place. Wherever this place was.

Slowly opening up her eyes, she blinked in confusion at her surroundings. There was nothing. No trees. No couch. No windows. No sun really shining down on her. It was eerie looking, as the grey fog swirled around her and blocked her vision from going more than a few feet. The ground was cold and hard beneath her and she was starting to wonder how she got here. It wasn't like the PIF to completely drop her somewhere new.

Okay. That was a downright lie as the PIF seemed to delight in dropping people in the most random of places. It didn't matter that the PIF wasn't a sentient thing. That did not stop Tide from thinking that it had human thoughts and motives from time to time. Even if those motives often did not make any sort of sense what so ever.

The headache still pounded away and she was actually surprised that none of her companions had spoken up. Usually at least one or two of them would be trying to help relieve the pain or making it worst. And then it suddenly hit the Flarean square in the face so to speak. There was nothing. Nada. Not a single voice. Not a single presence in her mind. No Flagur. No Honey. No Han.

She wasn't imagining it. It was all quiet in her head. For the first time in two years, there was nothing but silence. That was all it took for her to start crying and curled up into a small, sitting ball.

They were gone. They were all gone. What had happened? Were they okay? Did they...Did they all...No! She wouldn't even think of such a thing! Maybe it was her that had the accident? Yeah. That was a lot more believable for her. A lot more than...Than that other thought.

Did not stop the tears from flowing down her cheeks as the fog swirled around her. She didn't know how long she sat there. Five minutes? Five seconds? A year? Forever? In a place like this, time seemed to go by fast and yet at the same time, didn't exist at all.

A cold nose pressed up against her as she sat there crying. What is wrong Tidesweep? Did something happen? The sudden voice and feeling of wet against her bare arm had Tide jumping nearly ten feet high and letting out a strangled scream.

Charlie Biscuit let out a scream of his own as he stumbled backwards, nearly running into an unhappy Sinet. Watch it! Charlie Biscuit gave the older Flamma an apology even as she continued to glare at the younger Flamma. They could almost past as siblings. With them both being such a dark color. That wasn't the case, but neither one would correct you really. Sinet would just snort and Charlie Biscuit would just look highly confused, stating he was a sceltyr and she was a Flamma and they weren't the same.

Not that Tide could care less as she jumped up and hugged them both tightly. Even Sinet was a bit surprise and had to end up pushing off the over happy Flarean. Hey! Hey! You are getting me all wet! Straighten up! Sheesh. You would have thought we had fallen off the face of the Planet. It hadn't yet connected with either one of them that they weren't on Planet any longer, but the next member of the party to show up certainly fixed that.

She in fact did Sinet. We are all not actually on Planet any longer. I don't know where we are, but it isn't there anymore. The giant tortoise in pastel colors lumbered up, a bright, orange brightling on her back. Auriaco let out a Zeek and promptly attached himself to Tide's face just as Tide hugged Ayiama tightly as well.

The voices were back in her head! No where near as many as before, but definitely better than being completely alone out here. "You don't know how happy I am to see you guys! Have you seen anyone else? Gold? Tembeth? Puck?" Her face fell as everyone shook their heads. They hadn't seen anyone else.

The disappointment must have shown cause Charlie Biscuit came close to her side, rubbing his head up under her hand and Auriaco gently patted her cheek. Sinet and Ayiama looked around, both noticing the radiating, golden light. Maybe if we go there, the others will also find a way? Sinet gave a snort in agreement and Tide shrugged, still worried about everyone else. She was happy she and these four were safe, but what about the others? What about Sev? What about Gold? How did she get here? Where was here? And could she ever go back?

Figuring that maybe she would find her answers somewhere in the fog, she started walking. Slowly so as not to accidentally fall off any sort of cliff or into a hole for the fog was pretty thick. Slow and steady wins the race right? Even if it didn't, at least she now had a goal in mind and she was gonna to accomplish it. What happened after that was anyone's guess.

::Autobot Legion, this is Outpost Omega. Do you copy?::

Somewhere in the outer reaches of the Sol’ systems Oort cloud a spacecraft hove to. Legion- for the spacefarer had a name to go with his unexpected sentience- had been out of contact with mission control since clearing the Kuiper belt some weeks previous. Even with subspace technology and faster-than-light data transmission, communication over vast distances still proved problematic. Beaming messages towards the stars was resource-intensive, prohibitively expensive and above all else, terribly risky for all parties involved. There was always a risk a broad-beam transmission would tip off some alien culture and invite a war not unlike the one so recently ended.

That mission control would chance such a transmission now boded nothing but ill.

Legion altered course, cut thrusters, set down atop a hunk of space debris the size of the average Earth city. It took some doing, what with the encryptions slapped on every allied channel, but eventually the big aerialist pinged a message back.

::Autobot Legion respondin’. I hear y’loud an’ clear, Outpost Omega. Errythin’ arrigh’?::

::...not entirely.:: The voice on the other end was dry and weary and familiar in the worst sort of way. Normally Blaster manned the console when ‘the big guns’ were adrift among the stars The cassette-carrier had a knack for livening up the otherwise crippling loneliness of the black. Today, though, it was Red Alert reaching out to the Autobots’ ‘eye in the sky’, and wasn’t that a terrifying thought? What on earth would prompt a security specialist to step away from his mist screens and shout into the void?

Well, he’d find out soon enough.

::...arrigh’, Red, lay it on me. Get it over wif quick, eh?::

Red croaked the withered husk of a laugh. ::of course. Simply put, Skyfire picked up something strange on passive scans of your area.::

Legion’s tank, currently tucked away under his alt-mode’s canopy, gave an unpleasant sideways lurch. Skyfire was another of the Autobots’ delta-class deep-seekers, a spacefaring aerialist as big as some human skyscrapers Recent injuries (and some sort of social entanglement with none other than Starscream himself) had kept him confined to near-Earth environs. He’d been stationed at Earth’s LaGrange point and relegated to long-range scanning duty. Framed as he was for intergalactic exploration, Skyfire’s scanning equipment was understandably powerful, but not that powerful. If on-frame scanners designed for use in a vacuum could pick up this ‘something strange’ three lightyears away, it was big.

Not really something you wanted to hear when you were an FTL jump and some really clever space-bridging away from backup.

::...Righ’. ‘kay then. What kind o’’strange’ are we talkin’ ‘bout ‘ere?:: Nope. His voice didn’t waver at all, and for that he deserved a Pit-slagging Oscar nomination.

::The kind that gives Brainstorm and Perceptor fits.:: Legion’s tank rolled over and played dead, but Red wasn’t done striking fear into his spark just yet. ::They’re calling it a Keter-class temporo-spatial anomaly. It’s bleeding energy on a similar wavelength to our ground-bridges without any sign of a support structure or power source.::

...well, if he wasn’t good and unnerved before, he sure as slag was now. ::So comparable t’our tech, but we dinnit make it. Y’say th’nicest things, Red.::

Undeterred, Red Alert plowed on. ::As far as we can tell the anomaly’s holding steady a few kliks from your position. It only opened up a few Earth hours ago, but it’s already got the science division in an uproar. Starscream and Skyfire are actually working together on this, if you believe it.::

::Primus on a piston. Real big, then.:: Then the coin dropped, loud and clear and strut-chillingly ominous. ::...Red. Yer gonna tell me I gotta go poke this thing, ain’t y’?::

::I’m afraid so.::

Dead silence reigned for ten seconds before Legion groaned. ::...I hate y’so fokkin’ much righ’ now.::

::I know.::
Yes, Red KNEW, but he surely didn’t sound apologetic. Then again, he rarely did. Something about being the Autobots’ long-suffering head of security stripped a mech of their ability to apologize for much of anything. ::This is important. Priority one, authorization of the Prime.:: A beat, then, more gently- ::...for what little it’s worth, I’m sorry.::

::Don’ be. Nothin’ y’ken do ‘bout it.::
Legion sighed as best an aircraft could, spinning once, twice, three times wing over wing to shake the cold from his circuits. ::Arrigh’, Red, point me at this thing.::

::Transmitting coordinates now.::
Sure enough a coupled set of latitude/longitude readouts popped up on his HUD, followed in short order by a hefty program packet. Legion felt his gyros spin as the packet decompressed. By the time he righted himself the program had settled into his processor to leach off his flight sensors, presumably feeding the science team back on Earth all manner of pertinent information. Thus outfitted, the big red jet launched off his planetoid perch and into the black.

He made it all of seven kliks before darkness as deep as the void between stars claimed him.

---

His first impression was of warmth. Even through heavy ablative armor he could feel warmth seeping into his struts, slowly but steadily banishing the creeping chill of deep space. Haptic information came a sparkpulse later. Wherever he was- for his current location appeared on no map he possessed- he was laid out flat on his front with wings akimbo and arms uncomfortably twisted. System scans rebooted in slow motion, grudgingly admitting that, no, he really hadn’t broken anything when he’d landed... wherever he was. Aggro-tech and attendant weapons systems staggered online last of all. For better or worse they proved unneeded. Even spaceworthy sensors couldn’t pick up a single living thing within scanning range. There was nothing more but ground and air and open sky as far as the electronic eye could see.

Normally Legion would’ve found that reassuring. Given what little he could remember of the moments preceding his awakening, now it seemed anything but.

In a daze he maneuvered himself upright, grateful to discover all his limbs worked as intended. His comm system, on the other hand, appeared corrupted beyond all repair. Legion broad-beamed a distress signal all the same. Red had been on the line with him, knew precisely where his ‘eyes in the sky’ had gone off-course. Help had to be on the way.

It had to be, for the alternative was too terrible to comprehend.

“...well, fok. Now what?”

((Perch, cold, daze, 1072 words.))
It matters not how strait the gate, how charged with punishments the scroll
I am the captain of my fate, the master of my soul

He stared patiently at the angel, paying attention to every word. His tail began to wag, but ceased at the mention of an earthquake. The elf knew it must have been a terrible experience, his own not being too fun, but much less frightening than the threat of a quake in his opinion. Turning his attention to the fog mentioned, it was easy to understand how they didn't know their location. Gaze traveling to the sky, he pointed with a claw, suddenly thinking to write down what he thought, to show Raferties before shoving the note into a pocket.

It is a pleasure to meet all of you. I came from up there, you see, I was hunting, and fell into a hole. It is hard to believe an entire world was inside!

He seemed to glance up from the group to squint, to see if the hole was still up there somehow. Both ears perked up at a voice aimed into his head, as if that would make the source easier to find. He smiled in the Hyard's direction. It was an interesting trick, to speak without moving his mouth. The words hadn't seemed to make their mark, but to Mute, the very act of this speech was astonishing. He only caught the last of what the creature was telling him, something about healing, and the angel being the one to do it. He flinched at the thought, not entirely sure he wanted another to see his wound. He waved frantically to turn down the offer.

The mention of fresh water seemed like a good reason to start moving, so he did, a little further from Raferties. He wasn't about to let him catch sight of his neck. The angel mentioned others. He didn't know if anyone else would arrive in the world, but if he did, and this whole group did, it was possible. A frown crossed his lips to hear a drop in Raferties' mood, but there was nothing he could think of to help yet. He nodded to agree to go with them, however, believing that it was better not to separate in such conditions.

He walked with the brothers, excited to know what kind of world they walked. Mute let his eyes wander toward their wings on a few occasions, and took his pen out and a slip of paper to scribble something, the differing sets of wings. Putting that away, he paused, looking almost fearful of any help Raferties had in mind. Smiling, he shook his head, not changing his mind with the explanation. If someone wanted to his his injury, it would have to be in much sneakier way.

He approached the water too, tempted to take a drink, but he wasn't sure if he could without becoming a kind of horror fountain.
The sound of a roar turned his attention from the water toward the thing Girith found to be a threat. He reached back for his bow despite the low visibility. Mute would have to guess where to aim. A quick hand went for an arrow, but instead he found himself splashing into the cool river. Clear and untainted water slowly became murky, blackened by whatever was lingering on the elf. He came up, blinking, gasping for a breath of air. Fortunately, he hadn't been drinking in any of it.

Mute looked to the bank to climb out, his eyes finding someone he didn't recognize. To his surprise, the small person appeared to be asking for him. He turned to see if anyone else had fallen in after, and made his way toward Lost to see what he needed. Unable to voice the question, he simply mouthed a "Yes?" in the faerie's direction while he waited at the edge.

Lost simply took Mute by the hand and helped him out of the now dirty water. "Are you all right?" he asked quietly, a concerned expression on his face as he scanned Mute. It didn't seem as though the doglike elf was hurt, save for an old injury located on the much taller male's throat. For a moment, Lost couldn't help but wonder if the wound had caused Mute to lose his voice. His attention was soon drawn to the others that were present, all of them unique in their own strange ways. There was a man with long dark hair and beautiful silvery-white wings, several creatures he hadn't seen the likes of, and a being that seemed to be made of dark energy.

The twilight faerie quickly realized that they would not be able to defeat such a creature with only physical force. No, this would require a bit of magic. Perhaps if he created a distraction...?

"Everyone, cover your eyes if you don't wish to lose your sense of sight!" Lost warned before taking out the bottle labeled Blinding Light and making sure that everyone had their eyes closed before throwing it at the dark creature. The small bottle broke open, filling the area as bright as the sun itself and blinding aforementioned entity in the process. Then, in a lower voice, he added "Let's get out of here while it's distracted. We don't have much time." Glimpsing a light, though it was rather faint, off in the distance, Lost pointed in its direction. "I suggest you head that way, there might be someone or something that can help you. I'm going to see if there's anyone else here that might be in trouble."

Granted, the young twilight faerie was a bit worried that he might not be able to get everyone to safety, given that he was unable to fly in these conditions, but he knew that if he needed help, Mother would be there to guide him and give him advice as to what he should do.

The bright light from Lost's attack hardly dazzled the pair of angel brothers; when your patron was one of the sun, anything less than the full-force of a star tended to not really hinder them. Thus it was that they were able to see the reaction from their foe.

As the light engulfed it, the monstrosity gave an ear-piercing scream, some tentacles curling in as if to protect unseen eyes while the rest flailed about blindly, one clipping Keldos and scraping across his Solarian Truesteel armor with a spray of sparks, the other striking Raferties and sending him in a brief tumble before Girith could get under his Rider. But what was more important was the fact that the creature's flesh was smoking, bubbling even.

The light had actually hurt it!

With a brief glance at one another and a unified nod, Raferties and Keldos each wrapped themselves in bright radiant light, even brighter than they had before.

"Get them across the river!" Raferties yelled to Girith, and the dragon nodded in understanding, slipping into the water as Pax, Felix, and Orthau used him as a living bridge to get across. Aurae darted her own way, wings slapping at the foggy air to the branch of a sickly, blackened tree where she turned to watch, and the others gathered nearby, to see the battle unfold. Girith remained in the river which posed no trouble to him, guarding those already across and continuing to provide a way for Lost and Mute to cross as well, if they needed it.

Taking back to the air, Raferties dived in at the same time as Keldos, their paths crossing right in front of the beast and simultaneously exploding outwards like a pair of stars. Singly, this attack, common to all of Solaris' angels, was used to blind and disorientate a foe.

The agonized shriek of this foe told them clearly that it was a mite more wounding this time around!

Realizing that these were more hardy prey than it had intended, the monster retreated back into the fog, to nurse it's light-inflicted wounds and seek easier food. The Lorekeeper landed with the others, shaking a bit from adrenaline and the faint aching in his wings from flying in the heavy air, while his brother landed beside him considerably more stable.

"Is everyone alright?" Keldos queried, taking some charge of the situation as a warleader should. He nodded at Lost with a smile. "I do not know where you came from, but thank you for the use of your light. I had not thought to try such against it." Finally able to bring his radiance back up - such took a little bit of time for even a Firstborn - Raferties illuminated himself and much of the area around them, letting the angels get a look at their new companion.

"A - a child?" murmured Raferties to himself, then he shook his head to clear it and took a deep breath, memory returning in the aftermath of the battle. "If no one is harmed, we should press on before it returns, or something else decides to investigate." The angel's silver-white wings, momentarily raised, now sagged low as he turned to continue towards the distant light that was now a bit closer. Keldos just sighed, as Girith moved ahead with his Rider and let the others tag along afterwards.

"My little brother is not normally so distracted, and please do not take his words for unfriendliness," the elder explained and apologized softly to Mute and Lost. "His lover and their daughter are somewhere lost in the fog, and as that light is the only thing we can clearly see here, his hope is that they will be able to see it also, and go towards it. He is greatly afraid for them." The archangel managed a smile through his sibling worry for Lost. "I am Keldos, and my brother Raferties. And this is a new acquaintance of ours, Mute." Whom, in the angel's opinion, had fared well for the accidental soaking though the wet warmth from the fog would ensure he didn't dry easily, unfortunately. At least some of the scent had diminished!

Even Lost was a bit stunned by the effects the magic had upon the monster, before turning his back and hurrying over to Girith, murmuring a quiet thanks to the dragon as he crossed to the other side. Needless to say, he did not wish to witness what would happen to the creature now that it was weakened.

Hearing another agonized shriek followed by silence, the young twilight faerie concluded that either the monster had been driven off, or it had been killed. When he finally raised his head to see what had occurred, there seemed to be no trace of the creature, and Keldos was standing before him. "I am well... I did not think the light would be as effective as it was, though I am happy to have helped in even a small way. As for where I come from...I have always lived on Teragaia."

He gave the taller male a slight smile.

"Though I may not look it, I am approximately nineteen human years old...technically an adult in the eyes of humans, and yet still but a child in the eyes of the fae."

"I am Lost," he replied, glancing over at Raferties with a worried expression on his face. "If it will make a difference, I can call upon my companions in order to search for them while your group continues toward the light. I give you my word as a child of the stars that we will find your younger brother's daughter and his lover, and escort them to you safe and sound. Whether Raferties would like to join us is his choice." He closed his eyes for a moment. Orison, Sage, I require your aid. An angel's daughter and his lover have gone missing, and we need assistance in finding them.

You will not have to wait long for our arrival, Sage answered, his voice echoing faintly in Lost's mind. I will bring some more of the bottled magic, and Orison will be bringing his potions in case any injuries need to be treated. May the wind be at your heels, and Mother keep you safe from harm, Lost answered softly.

Opening his eyes again, Lost said "My companions will be here soon with more supplies, as well as potions to treat injuries should you need them." Then he glanced to Raferties again. "Have you made your decision?"
